Sporting Kansas City II starts a run of three straight road matches with a Thursday night showdown with LAFC 2 at Titan Stadium in Fullerton, California. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. CT with free livestreams available both in the OneFootball app and at MLSNEXTPro.com.

This will be the first matchup of the season between Sporting KC II and LAFC 2. In their most recent meeting, SKC II defeated LAFC 2 at Titan Stadium on July 27, 2025. SKC II has also earned three results in their last four matches, including a 3-2 win over Houston Dynamo 2, who currently occupies third place in the Western Conference.

Sporting's last match saw them draw 2-2 with Colorado Rapids 2 at home last Saturday.

Kansas City jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to goals from Tega Ikoba and Blaine Mabie. Ikoba collected his sixth goal of the season while Mabie opened his 2026 scoring account. It was also Ikoba's first start since June 8. Mabie has started 15 of 18 appearances and has been the co-captain this season with defender Pierre Lurot.

Lurot is the only SKC II player to play every single minute in 2026. The second year center back is also the only player to start every single game, providing some stability on SKC II's backline.

He has been joined in recent games by Mitch Ferguson and has partnered with SKC Academy product Luca Antongirolami on nine occasions this season.

Ikoba's six goals is tied for second on the team with forward Missael Rodriguez. The Chicago native Rodriguez, assisted on Ikoba's goal giving him two on the season.

SKC Academy forward Kashan Hines paces the team with seven goals this season. He scored his first pro brace against Houston in the 3-2 win and will look to get back into form on this road trip.

LAFC 2 enters Thursday on a run of four straight results. Their last defeat came on the road against fellow Southern California outfit Ventura County FC. Their last home defeat came back in April against Timbers 2 and is their only home loss of the season. Currently, the Black and Gold second team holds the sixth spot in the Western Conference as they look to make the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs for the first time since 2024.

The next two games of the road trip for Sporting will see them face the Tacoma Defiance and Whitecaps FC 2 on Monday, Aug. 24 and Sunday, Aug. 30 respectively. All three of the games can be streamed for free on the OneFootball app and at MLSNEXTPro.com.
