Kansas City Wizards striker Zoltan scored a goal Saturday night in the 31st minute of Kansas City's 2-1 victory over A.C. St. Louis. During the second half, he went down injured and had to be removed in the 57th minute on a stretcher. Zoltan went for an MRI Monday, confirming a torn right ACL.
"It's a heartbreaker because we were bringing Zolie along a certain way," Wizards manager Peter Vermes said. "He always has given us a great spark off the bench. He just brights a different dynamic to our team. In the St. Louis game, he was playing fantastic."
Zoltan will undergo surgery Friday to repair the ACL. Dr. Scott Luallin, MD will perform the procedure, and recovery is expected to take between 5-8 months. More from Vermes on the injury:
