Red-hot captain Johnny Russell bagged a brace and midfielder Gadi Kinda added two assists as Sporting leapfrogged Seattle Sounders FC at the top of the West with three regular season matches still to play. Twenty-year-old John Pulskamp also became the youngest goalkeeper in Sporting history to record a shutout, finishing the game with two vital saves.
