With eight games remaining in the 2010 Major League Soccer season, the Kansas City Wizards are firmly entrenched in the fight for the MLS Cup Playoffs. Kansas City currently sits in 4th place in the Eastern Conference, just one point behind Toronto FC for 3rd. More importantly, Kansas City sits six points out of the final playoff spot behind Seattle Sounders FC. Of the final four home games, three are against clubs currently in the top 8 of the MLS standings. For up-to-date playoff standings, click here.

Remaining home schedule (records as of September 13):

Wednesday, September 22, 7:30 p.m. CT vs Houston Dynamo (6-12-5, 23 pts)
This game was rescheduled from September 11, and represents a great opportunity to pick up points against a team further down in the standings. Houston is no slouch, however, and coach Dom Kinnear always has his teams prepared to fight.

Saturday, September 25, 7 p.m. CT vs FC Dallas (10-2-11, 41 pts)
FC Dallas has turned things around in 2010 and has lost only two matches in MLS play. A win against FCD and former Wizards goalkeeper Kevin Hartman would heap more pressure on teams above Kansas City in the standings and send a strong message to the entire League.

Saturday, October 9, 7:30 p.m. CT vs Seattle Sounders FC (9-9-6, 33 pts)
A huge match against Seattle could go a long way toward determining who makes the playoffs. Seattle currently occupies the last playoff spot, but they have played two more games than the Wizards. A win in this match would help Kansas City while setting back the competition.

Saturday, October 23, 7:30 p.m. CT vs San Jose Earthquakes (9-7-6, 33 pts)
The 2010 season could very well come down to the final match against a San Jose team currently in playoff position and riding high thanks to new Designated Player Geovanni. In 2009, the Wizards put eventual champions Real Salt Lake into the playoffs by tying D.C. United on the last day of the season. Can the Wizards put themselves into the playoffs with a result on the final match day of 2010?
