First, you're all probably wondering why I picked that picture for the Afternoon Link List. Well, what's better than a bunch of kids wearing the same shirt over huge coats? The shirt itself is pretty sweet too. You're here for the second-ever edition of the Afternoon Link List. We started this yesterday, hopefully everyone is enjoying some of the soccer stories they may or may not have seen earlier in the day.
Without further ado, here are today's stories worth reading:
-First, the ugly. Zoltan is out 5-8 months. Our story. Gooch's.
-Next, our upcoming interview schedule for those of you who like listening to the Wizards on the radio.
-This is a little late, but everyone's favorite Sam Pierron had a great blog post after our 4-0 win vs D.C. Sam will be blogging after every game this year. It will be fun.
-Mike ran a little contest late last night. Though it didn't last long, you should see if you would have got the answer right.
-The Shin Guardian gives some interesting stats on U.S. Soccer fans of the Latino variety. Dig it.
-WV Hooligan posts their power rankings. What do you think?
-Media Post sports marketing chimes in on soccer’s growth and corporate power. A lot of this we know, but it's good to see new people realizing it.
-Players in Spain might be going on strike. Hopefully they avert this like we in MLS did.
-ESPN has picked up mobile highlights rights in the UK. They keep on acquiring footy properties.
-Richard Snowden of Soccer365 gives his take on the new DP rules. His thoughts are different than most that we've seen so far.
-Steve Davis at MLSsoccer.com talks tactics. Compare the 2-men deep in the middle he highlights (which Colorado plays) to our current 3-men in the middle.
-Indian Express speaks with Sunil Chhetri’s agent about the growth of the game in India and how he became involved. Side note: Chhetri's other agent is Kenny Moyes, brother of Everton manager David Moyes. That's neat.
-SF (MLs Insider) posts at The Offside Rules with tweets from various soccer figures about Lionel Messi's insane day. Half 1 (including one from Matt Besler). Half 2 (including one from Kei Kamara).
-We will be hosting KCW Juniors U-19 tryouts soon. If you you are in the right age range and haven't signed up, do it!
-We are hosting a Soccer Day 5K May 15 before our MLS match against the Chicago Fire. Sign up.
-Have you seen the details on our game against Colorado next Tuesday at UMKC? If not, check it out.
